Well this is awkward. Problogger have announced that today is Blogger Appreciation Day.

The idea is that bloggers everywhere should take a moment to cheer each other up, given that it's the most miserable day of the week and that commentators everywhere are pointing out the health risks involved in obligating oneself to an online journal all the live-long year.

Now that in itself is a lovely idea. I've no problem with the notion of applauding a talented writer before they develop an irreversible case of blogger's finger or drown in a sea of their own, content-hungry tears.

Instead my problems are twofold and thus: this blog isn't yet a week old. This means that:

a) Firstly, to single out one blogger from the sea of talent available on the world wide thingumy might be considered defining at this premature stage of our blogger/reader relationship.

What if I pick one that renders me an irretrievable eejit in your eyes? That would be pretty devastating, wouldn't it? I can't imagine many of you would stick around if you thought my favourite read was related to, let's say.. memorizing the value of pi. Or badger-baiting.

b) Secondly, it's a dead cert that no-one's going to reciprocate with a virtual pat on Catwalk Blogginess' back, given that so far all we've contributed to the bloggiverse is a picture of a puppy wearing spectacles.

Now rejection is tough, but you don't live a life like mine without encountering a butt-load of it, so let's crack on regardless.

For a while, it was going to be The Sarorialist or Susie Bubble - both of whom brighten my otherwise rather beige life with their regular injections of style and glamour. But then, that would be kind of obvious, wouldn't it?

85% of the natural world has been reading them for the last 28 years or so and they're already in my blogroll, so there's no need to add my virtual air-kiss into the already obscene amount of smooching that's offered in their direction.

The same could be said for the other blogs you can see listed there - to which all of you must subscribe if you haven't already.

No - instead, I need to big-up a blog that has regularly served me well but of which you may not yet have had the pleasure. Therefore, that blog is Whoopee and that blogger is Antonia. It seems particularly appropriate to give props today, seeing as she begins today's entry with a lament for her lack of posting.

Ah - but it's the quality that counts and Antonia's writing regularly has me LMAO, ROTFLMAO and other such mysterious acronyms that I *think* signify giggling like a rabid weevil. So read and enjoy - and kudos to Antonia for her mad skillz.
